(ACHIMENES)
Další z příbuzných afrických fialek, který má hlavní původ ve Střední a Jižní Americe, Peru, Mexiku a na některých ostrovech. Je to rostlina z míst, kde je po určitou dobu v roce výrazné sucho – období, kdy zatahují do podzemních rhizomů a při vrácení vlhkého období opět z těchto podzemních částí vyraší.
Stejně jako kohlerie jsou to jednoleté byliny buď vzpřímené, nebo převislé, porostlé chloupky, ale daleko méně než kohlerie a květy nejsou ochlupené. Květy jsou podobné kohlerii, ale jsou více „zvonkovité" a na rozdíl od kohlerií kvetou i v odstínech modré a fialkové. Listy jsou vejčité, ve všech odstínech zelené. Květy jsou ve všech možných barvách – bílé, žluté, červené, růžové, modré a fialové, byly již dokonce vyšlechtěny oranžovo-žluté s modrým okrajem (Sauline a Hugues Aufray od Serge Saliby), nebo dokonce fantazijní, kdy je na květu fantazijní žíhání odlišnou barvou (podobně jako fialek) – Serge´s Fantasy.
Pěstování:
Podobné jako u kohlerií – umístění spíše polostín, teplo, dobře větratelné (při umístění na balkoně či lodžii zajištěno). Pravidelně zaléváme, nikdy nesmí vyschnout – zasychají a kroutí se listy, pravidelně po vyrašení a během růstu přihnojujeme. Na podzim začínají rostliny zasychat, přestávají kvést. Snížíme zálivku téměř na minimum, poté odřízneme vrchní část rostliny – nenecháváme nic – žádnou část stonku jako u kohlerií, a uložíme do chladna a sucha. Na rozdíl od kohlerií vůbec nezaléváme. Na jaře vysypeme, vybereme rhizomy a zasázíme do čerstvé zeminy (z každé i sebemenší částečky rhizomku vyraší rostlinka, ale samozřejmě silné a velké rostliny rostou z celého rhizomu.) Zaléváme do vyrašení velice mírně, teprve po vyrašení můžeme i mírně přihnojit. Lze také množit vrcholovými řízky, listy a také „rhizomky-propagules“, které někdy vyraší v paždí listů. Také je možno při nedostatku místa rhizomy uchovávat vybrané ze země (stejný postup až k zaschnutí uřezaných rostlin...) poté vysypeme, pečlivě vybereme a očistíme rhizomy, dáme do zipových sáčků s trochou vermikulitu, uzavřeme, označíme!!!! odrůdou a uložíme např. v krabici do sucha. Občas prohlédneme, ale nerosíme ani nevlhčíme. Na jaře je postup stejný jako při přechování v květníku.
Při množení vrcholovými řízky je velice vhodné sázet rovnou do zeminy, ve vodě často uhnívají a usychají listy. Je dobré řízky zapíchat do zeminy a přetáhnout sáčkem, umístíme na police.
